I made ANKH as part of my Egyptian Collection.

I handcrafted each Ankh symbol — also known as the key of life — by coiling and wrapping non-tarnish brass wire by hand using a hammered technique. I love this technique for the textured, ancient feel it gives, reminiscent of Egyptian heritage. No two Ankhs are exactly alike because I wrap each one by hand.

At the heart of the design I set an iridescent bead that catches the light and adds a touch of mystery. The Ankh represents life. In ancient writing and art it signified living, and was often depicted in the hands of Egyptian deities as a symbol of their power to sustain life and revive souls in the afterlife. It also suggests balance, joy, energy, and fertility.

I finished these with handmade ear wires for earlobe wear. I made them in my Jonesboro, GA studio as a statement of history and craftsmanship.
